TRX Fitness

Anyone tried or had any success with the TRX Fitness Anywhere (see fitnessanywhere.com) program? In the interest of having an option during travel...and something to vary my routines, I'm thinking about giving it a run, but I'm curious to see/hear about other's experiences.

$200 seems a little steep for some straps...but the exercises seem pretty legit.  Let me know your thoughts if you've given it a try...

Thanks.

Going to weigh in...

...even though I haven’t tried it. PRO: The exercises DO look good, no question. And you can do some things-particularly upper-body pulling movements-that are hard to do without some form of external resistance. And if the program and exercises look effective and fun-they do to me-and look like something you could get excited about after a hard day at work or on the road somewhere, then I say go for it. Something is always way better than nothing, and even a mediocre program (which TRX isn’t-it’s pretty good) can be effective if you commit to it 100%. On the CON side, except for the upper-body pulling moves, there really isn’t anything you can do with these straps that you can’t do with your bodyweight plus a little imagination; and even the upper body pulls can be done quite effectively if you can find something to hang from, like a set of monkey bars. So you don’t REALLY need the TRX to get a good, on-the-road, portable workout. A decent trainer should be able to give you a killer full-body workout that you can perform in a six foot square room. But again, if having those straps and some DVDs is going to fire you up, go for it! Variety is always good, and sometimes having an implement-like a jump rope or a these TRX things—in your travel bag is just the reminder you need to get you going. Let us know what you think if you try ‘em out.

What price can you put on fitness?

Yes it does seem to be a high price for some straps – If you have the ingenuity, you could probably make some sort of home-made variation.

Like any workout program, the biggest issue is getting people to use it. If it would make you work out and you achieve the results you want along the way – then to my way of thinking the price is a moot point.

Here is a post that I think that you may find helpfull: TRX Suspension Training, Multi-Planar Training on DaveDraper.com.

The article is not a sales pitch – but a very helpful evaluation.
