Pressed for time workouts.
Being a dad of three little ones, I don't have the time for workouts that I used to. I was wondering if any of you had some good ideas for workouts for the time pressed dad. Right now I do 3x 15 Bench press,3x12 pullups,3 x 15 weighted lunges, ab work with the Pilates ball, and running, or swimming for 20 min. Anybody have some other quick workouts that have done well for you? Thanks a bunch!

Hey OC...........
I have a (almost) 8 month old and sometimes I find myself pressed for time as well.
On days I cant go to the gym this is what I usually do.
Go out to my old HS track and walk/push the stroller a 1/4 lap…….then knock out 15-20 pushups…….walk the next quarter knock out 20 squats, 1/4 lap again……20-25 Jumping Jacks……1/4 lap……then do 15-20 mountain climbers…….
Repeat process for 4 laps (aka 1 mile)
Usually takes me 25-30 min………
Plus my kid loves it, being outside……and I count aloud to her and it makes her laugh.
I dont know how you could do that with 3 kids all at once……but its possible to let them just run around or even join you in the activity depending on their ages.
Good Luck!

I used to do something like this often.
The kids do love it. I live in Oregon, so there is not a lot of outside stuff I can do with all of them in the winter rain months. Thanks!
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
If you're a fan of lifting,
and don’t have much time, I would say construct your workouts around the big three lifts, i.e. squats, deads, bench press, or any of the variations, i.e. free/box squats, floor/rack/sumo/RDL deads, incline/decline/flat bench. I wouldn’t go heavy on all three in the same workout, but focusing in on those will a)make you stronger b)rev up your metabolism more than almost any other exercises.
I like lifting.
I used to do these big threes at times during college. I used to like clean & presses too. I just have a home gym (bowflex, elliptical trainer, and some assorted dumbbells). Those are great lifts!

Good tips.
I also have an eight-month old and a five-year-old; I’m also fortunate enough to have a back yard. I’ve got a 70-pound heavy bag, an 8-pound medicine ball, some cones, a trampoline, and a TRX-type device back there. If I’m creative, I can jam just about everything I need into about 40 minutes: usually I’ll build an obstacle course that requires me to crawl, jump, crab-walk, chin, pushup, clean, carry and throw the heavy bag and/or medicine ball. I’ll throw in a few shuttle runs as needed as well, all under the clock.
High-intensity—meaning maximum speed and power, brief spurts of hardcore effort—is going to be your friend. Have fun.

I didn’t even think of making obstacle course out of the kids play sets! Great tips!
