Anyone Participated in a Warrior Dash?

Hey guys, I'm new to MPF but I recently signed up for a Warrior Dash (official site) and I'm wondering if any of you fitness buffs have ever took part in the fun. It looks like a blast but I'm not exactly in tip-top shape. I've started hitting the gym and am hoping to drop around 25 pounds between now and race day. Anyways long story short I was just wondering if anyone had done one of these before and if there was any kind of particular training I should be doing other than your standard 5K type of training.

Looks pretty intense, and fun!

I’m no trainer, but I’d say work on distance running (cross country), jumping rope, wind sprints, push ups, pull ups, and a lot of core work. Get that swiss ball, and basu ball work in. Let us know how it was when you are done! :-)

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Good luck! Warrior Dash looks really fun. Unfortunately my most local one is on my wife’s birthday. I’ll probably try it next year.

I’m no trainer either…but Warrior Dash seems like the kind of thing that Andrew talks about when he recommends things like setting up obstacle courses for yourself or swinging around on the monkey bars or climbing on the jungle gym or something.

Got a friend who's doing the LA one...

On April 10. I like it and wish I could do it but am out of town. Maybe I’ll have him do a guest post. They look like great fun! And I bet training for them would be a terrific regimen. I can’t find specific references to what the “obstacles” are, but maybe that’s the idea—you have to be ready for anything!

Thanks guys

Right now I’m just trying to mix up my cardio and add in some total body weight training. The toughest part I think will be having to run in wet shoes for most of the race but either way it looks like a blast.
