Relentless Consistency

Though of course I pay pretty careful attention to what I eat, I'm not hugely into the whole nutrition thing--the chemistry, the enzymes, the hows and wherefores. So I appreciate hearing from someone who IS incredibly well-versed in such things.

There's an interview up with diet guru Dr. John Berardi over at Tmuscle that's worth a look whether or not you're into getting huge. Berardi makes a lot of great horse-sense points, this one, I think, chief among them:

Basics.

I’ve been relentlessly consistent with my training and am seeing/feeling the results. I see many people wanting this and that but aren’t willing to stick with what it takes to get there. They take the easy way out and give up when they don’t see results quick enough (usually an unreasonable expected time frame).

“You only get out of it what you put into it.”

I live by that quote, not just for training but everything in life.

Habits

I agree about relentless consistency, and it gets a lot easier once you form good habits. The problem is so many think in terms of “going on a diet” instead of “retraining myself.” Because even if you reach your goals you will revert back to your old body as soon as you revert back to your old habits.

It’s about getting into a new rythm and being truly happy with it.

Relentless consistancy explains why my friend is in perfect condition, why I am in somewhat decent shape, and why the person that sits next to me at work is softer than a velvet sack of gravy…
