I didn’t go through the entire study but even if it were proven that LL-HV lead to increased ACUTE protein synthesis, it would not prove LL-HV to be a better method for building muscle.
The primary (hell, the only) reason compound heavy routines are favored is because they encourage a hormonal response (gene expression) that promotes muscle growth over time… or so the story goes.
I think both methods are beneficial even if one is more effective than the other at achieving certain goals. I certainly wouldn’t put a marathoner on a purely HL-LV routine and expect them to set the world on fire and similarly I wouldn’t expect LL-HV to be overly beneficial to a powerlifter (even if it led to an increase in overall muscle mass).
